YAY it's Friday!! What does that mean to us hounds? Not much really, but the momma and the dad seem super excited about it!
Today the momma took us girl to the groomers to get our hair and nails done for the pawty tomorrow! When she left us, she went to the Chiropractor for a MUCH needed massge and an adjustment! The girl giving her the massage said that she won't be able to hold her beer this weekend 'cuz the momma wore out her hands! The momma told her to get a long straw so she wouldn't have to hold on to it!!
Like I said, tomorrow is the big pawty for our old neighbors who helpd us out after the fire and for our families & friends! The dad was certain that no one was going to show up, but the momma showed him some of the RSVP's and he was amazed! If everyone comes that said they would, then there will be about 50 people here! The momma didn't ask how many were bringing thier dogs, but we are sure to have some of our friend here!! I think Higgs and Meeka are coming for sure..
So after the dog park tonight, the momma went to a place called Costco. She doesn't normally shop there, so it took her forever to find what she waw getting for the pawty. It didn't help that she didn't bring a list with her!! To prove this point, after she was done paying and getting ready to leave, she remembered she forgot to buy the buns for the hamburgers!! She was VERY happy she rememebered while she was still there, and not when everyone was showing up to eat tomorrow!!
She then went down to the rescue's storage and borrowed some of their tables for food and sitting at and an EZ-Up so the people on the deck will have shade tomorrow! She also brought our X-Pen so we can put it up around tha BBQ to keep our dog friends away so they don't get hurt or try to steal the foods!! :-) She says only a couple of people wanted hot dogs, so she'll go get them (and buns!) at the Food Maxx in the morning when she gets ice, cheese slices and the 1/4 keg of Bud!
She then found the country channel on the XM and turned on dad's new speakers while she made 2 gallons of ice tea and 2 gallons of cherry kool-aid in case some people don't want beer, water or soda! And then she swept the WHOLE house!! She said that sweeping is a lot harder than vacuuming, but I think she's just out of practice and doesn't remember what vacuuming was like!!
Well - I guess that's it for today. Nothing else going on except to watch the momma do dishes and pick stuff up (like all of Sasha's toys for the 100th time today!!)!! Will report in after the pawty tomorrow, if'n they all don't stay all night (we don't have an ending time!!)!!
Have a great night and once again, thanks a bunch for all the love and support!! Hugs!!

The momma got some good naps in this morning after work. She got to sleep 1 hour before the first salesperson called! Then 2 more hours before her friend called and then 2 more hours before the dad got up! She showed him the pictures she took yesterday and then made Boboli pizza's for dinner! She let us each have a bite. Boy do we love her cooking!!
When the dad went to work, she went over to the old house again. Today her and across the street neighbor Steve took the aluminum cans and plastic bottles to be recycled! She made $176 which she will use to buy a 1/4 keg for the party on Saturday and the burgers for the BBQ!!
When she came home, she turned on the front sprinklers 'cuz we've been here a week and they hadn't done it yet (not our front anyways). She left them on for 30 minutes before she tried turning them off. She had SUCH a hard time and kept getting splashed when the knob for the right sprinklers came off and she couldn't get it back on! She finally did and we all went to the park for our play date. When we got there, the sprinklers were on. We tried to walk around them, but we each got sprayed a bit! She went in and told her friends that it was her day to take a shower anyways!
When we got home, she fed us girls, folded the clothes in the dryer and put the clothes from the washer in to dry so she could have clean pants and sweatshirt for work. Then she went out back, picked up all of our toys from the lawn and turned the sprinklers on back there.
I don't know why she did 'cuz when 30 minutes were up, she couldn't get the left ones off and then she got sprayed again! Then when she finally was about to give up, they went off. She's not quite sure how she did it, and she swore not to do it again!! THEN when we were coming into the house, she knocked the screen door off its tracks and couldn't get it back, so she gave up, had a pudding and went to take a nap before work! She has a SUPER busy day tomorrow and will hardly get any sleep, so she needs a nap!
Well - we'll tell you all about tomorrow after it happens!! Wish us luck and as always, thanks for the continued love and support!

Today was another LONG day for the momma! She got off early so she could take a nap before my eye doctor appointment, but everyone and thier mother called!! She counted 11 phone calls between 8:30am and 1pm!!
So we went to the Animal Eye Clinic to do a pressure check on my good eye. Normal is usually between 15 and 25 psi and I tested at 12!! The momma was SO happy!! She was super happy that she brought the ladies at the clinic a bunch of chocolate chip cookies!! :-)
She had a meeting at the house at 3pm. She met Angelina there and they talked about the big stuff that is still left and if the momma wanted them to try and save the stuff or just toss it. It didn't take as long as she thought it would, which was a good thing 'cuz the smell still gives her a headache!!
You can see from the top picture where the pictures of us girls USED to hang in the living room!!
And in this picture, you can see what is left of the kitchen cabinets. The white blob on the bottom left used to be our over-the-range microwave. It's pretty much melted. The white cracked things in the next cupboard are whats left of our plates! The heat got so bad they cracked! They're nearly done taking all of our stuff out of our house. They'll take the rest of the big stuff out tomorrow! They had to have the dry cleaner come back today and get some things they missed and they put a call in to Resteronics to come get the other TV's, speakers and stereo stuff they missed the first time.

When she left, she ran a couple of errands: went to the bank & picked up a table and chairs from the grandma's before she went to Vegas with her lady friends and then she got to go home, had a bite to eat ane went to bed! We didn't go to our daily play date, but I guess we can miss ONCE in a while!
So, that's it for today! Thanks again for the continued love and support!!

Hello friends!
Its been quiet around here for the past couple of days! Sunday, the momma and dad took our old across-the-street neighbors to a fancy car show at Stanford! The momma said that dad was like a kid in a candy store!
When they got home, the momma tried to take a nap before work, but Sasha and I were playing too loud out on the back deck! We were running around and chasing each other and playing keep-a-way with a stuffie! It was SO much fun!! While we were doing that dad turned on the sprinkler system.
Well, Sasha decided that she was going to run into the yard so I could chase her and she got hit in the butt with the sprinkler! She jumped around and barked at it! It was SO funny! The dad had to come in and tell the momma about it! While he was inside, we started playing ring-around-the-tree and I was keeping up with the rug rat pretty good, even though she kept going to my bad side trying to loose me, but then she started playing in the sprinklers!! Running and jumping and barking!! She had SO much fun!! By the time the dad could stop her she was SO dirty and soaking wet!! Good thing we're going to the groomers on Friday!!
Well - yesterday and today were pretty much a lot of the same thing the momma calls business as usual! She came home from work, we went outside, she tried to take a nap on the couch until it was time to get the dad up and then she made dinner and got his clothes and lunch ready. Then it was nap time and off to the park for our daily play date!
Tomorrow is a big day - I'm going to the doctor so they can check my good eye and see how awesome my sewed up eye is doing. The momma wanted to bake them something to show how thankful we are for all they did for me, but she ran out of time! If'n she can get off work on time in the morning, she'll throw some brownie mix into her new pan and bring them over. If not, they'll have to settle for store-bought goodies! Either way, they'll know that its 'cuz everyone is SO happy how good I feel since the surgery!!
Then - they are supposed to be finished packing up our house so the momma has a meeting there at 3pm! She's going to bring us with 'cuz its supposed to take a couple of hours and we'll go to the dog park straight after! When is she supposed to sleep you ask?!!? Beats me!! Hopefully her vitamins will come in the mail 'cuz she's going to need them!! I guess that's why she's talking about taking Friday off?!?!?
Well - the momma is getting ready for work, so I must go get my night time snack and have her put my drop in my eye (so I don't get glaucoma in that eye, too)! Have a great night, get lots of rest and we'll type to you tomorrow!! As always, thanks for the continued love and support!! Hugs!!

Boring day today! The momma was gone all day, but we don't mind 'cuz she was helping Golden Gate Basset Rescue!! They had a volunteer workshop and they stuffed the goody bags for the upcoming waddle on July 4th! I'm hoping that my Firstgiving page brings in enough money to make me the queen of the parade next year! The momma has been practicing her queen wave just in case!!
The dad was gone most of the day, too! He went out and bought a new pair of speakers that were on sale (just in case the nickzillion that he had at home were ruined by the smoke) and 4 music DVD's that he didn't have! When he got home there wasn't any speaker wire (duh!!), so after a nap, he went out again. He went and bought himself a new guitar (since at least 2 of his were ruined in the fire!) and another amp (again, just in case the 3 he had at home were ruined!)! Then he got home and couldn't figure out how to use the tuner they gave him at the store! He was about to go back and yell at them when he realized they never charged him for it, so he can't bitch (well, not to them anyways!)!! THEN he went to Wally-World and bought a new A's hat for work so he didn't ruin the NASCAR one that he was able to grab before the dry cleaners took all of the other ones! He also bought another power strip so he doesn't have to keep the amp in front of the couch and the speaker wire that didn't come with the new speakers!
The momma came home while he was at Wally-World and picked up half a nickzillion toys from the backyard and then she told us that we sure made ourselves right at home in the backyard and picked up all of our poop!! She also hooked up the the Verizon box that they delivered from the Electronics Restoration company and now our old home phone number works at the new house (yes, the first call that came through was from a sales person, but at least we have a phone at the house again!)!
Then the grandma and Auntie Terry (dad's sister Terry, not the momma's sister Terri or her other sister Teri) came over so the Auntie could see our new place. They brought the momma triple chocolate cupcakes, but she won't share them with us!! She did bring home some extra dog biscuits from the goody bag stuffing, so we'll forgive her, but I digress...
So the dad goes to hook up the speakers with the new wire up to the TV, but there isn't anything to plug it into, so Auntie told him that he could borrow the receiver from her house & he did. Then he spent about 1-1/2 hours getting everything cleaned and hooked together so we can listen to the little TV super loud!! Maybe he's planning on turning on one of the XM channels from the TV during the party next Saturday?!?!
Anyways - like I said, a pretty boring day, but at least us girls got caught up on our sleep!! That's the important part, right!?!?! :-)
Well - off to bed! Have a great night's sleep and thanks again for the continued love and support and all the e-mails letting me know that you like my blog!! HUGS!!

Friday, June 22, 2012
Well - today is Friday which seemed to make the momma VERY happy!! She kept saying that this was the longest 2 working days that she's ever had!!
She made up invitations to a party at our new house on her puter. It will be here next Saturday (not 2morrow!). Dad liked the way it turned out and she gave him a couple to invite some of his friends that he works with. He told momma that some of the guys from work posted my story from the newspaper on the bulletin board at his work!
She also did an invite on-line for some of our family and friends that live a little further away, but still might want to come join us for burgers and dogs. No - Literally - she's invited our dog friends, too!! She stopped by the old neighborhood on her way home and dropped the invites off at the mailboxes of our bestest neighbors!
The momma made sketty for dinner. Dad said it turned out good even if it was cooked on a lectric stove instead of a gas one! Momma said nice try, we're sticking with gas at our house!!
Our Auntie Lynda came over to see us girls (she said HI to the momma, too, but she came to see us girls - especially ME!!)! She brought us a kitchen garbage bag full of toys that her boy bassets (Bentley & Riley) don't play with any more. She also put in some new ones!! Sasha and I had a LOT of fun putting our heads inside the bag and picking the ones that we wanted to play with! Sasha took half of them outside already (OK, mom - there were only 4 outside!! Sheesh - like you never exaggerate!!). She also bought us each a nice big fluffy, cedar smelling bed!! They're all different patterns, but they are similar colors so they go good with the rented furniture!! Unfortunately, Auntie Lynda had to go to work, so she didn't get to stay too long (good news - they're going to come back next Saturday for the party!! Dogs, Uncle Sam (NO - not THAT one!!) and little Olivia, too!! YAY!!
Just before the dad left for work, our Auntie Donna, who also helps out at GGBR, came over with her Lola and her brand new basset - 4 year old Summer!! Sasha liked her right away! I snarked at her once when we went upstairs for a tour, but I only snarked once! They didn't stay long either 'cuz Auntie Donna had some place she had to go! They already have plans for next weekend, so we'll just have to have play dates with them some other time!
When they left, the momma went up the street to see Auntie Dee to get her hair cut. I didn't think it looked bad, not fluffy at all like the dads did last week before Auntie Dee cut it, but she went anyways! Auntie Dee has to work next weekend, but she's going to come see us after for the pawty! When she came home she took us girls to our daily play date at Drigon!! All of our favorite friends were there - Layla's dad calls them the A-Team! Mom passed out more invitations, so hopefully some of our dog park friends can come over and see our mini-dog park we have at our right now house!!
Then, Auntie Teri pulled up at our right now house just as we did and after the momma fed us girls, the two of them went out to dinner. They went to a place called El Burro (dad calls it The Ass!) so they could have cocktails with dinner! Momma said she'd been thinking of a Margarita ALL DAY!! :-)
Well - off to bed! I know its early, but it has been another long week!! Auntie Donna is supposed to come get the momma in the morning so they can stuff goody bags for the waddle. Us girls have to stay here with the dad 'cuz no dogs are allowed at Stanford! Can you imagine - their mascot is a giant tree, but they don't like dogs to be at the school!! Its not like we're boy dogs for heaven sake! The nerve!! Well - hopefully she feels guilty for leaving us all day and brings us lots of treats home!!
Sleep well friends and thanks once again for the continued love and support!! Hugs!!

Thursday, June 21, 2012
Hello friends! Today was SUPER long for the momma... she went back to work last night and she had a hard time staying awake! Playing with the reports on the computer didn't help at all! Good thing people kept asking her what happened and how are things!! That helped her make it through the night!
After work she went by our house to meet the contractor she is hiring and to sign some papers saying that we are hiring them! He said they already have all of our measurements for the kitchen so he will get Rich can put everything in the computer and when they meet she'll be able to move things around and see how she wants her new kitchen to look!! He said that the can even make it 3-D!!
She then went and talked to Angelina - she's the one in charge of packing up our house. She told the momma that they've already taken 200 boxes out of the house (not including electronics and clothes which were 2 different companies!) and they weren't really close to being done, but they are making headway! They've packed up all of her penguins from the curio - that was about 1000!! They were packing up the bar when she left. She thought about taking some of that stuff for the party next week, but decided against it!
She made chili-dogs for dinner tonight andwe got a couple of bites of dog, but no chili! They're weird - they eat dinner around noon! Momma says that's their way of having 1 meal together a day!
The momma's left leg has been bothering her - her knee started hurting again last Wednesday (se thinks it was from standing too much for all the meetings she had last week). Then over the weekend, her calf started to feel like it was going to cramp up out of no where - it never did, but felt like it was going to. Then last night at the dog park, she noticed that her ankle started to swell. It as like that all night. She took some Advil when she ate and it was better when she woke up, but she's going to call the doctor about it anyways - just in case!
We went by Pet Food Express on the way home from he dog park tonight so that the momma could pick up some things that they are donating for the basset rescue and then we went home for dinner. Oh - and it dropped like 40 degrees in one day, so the momma put the comforter on the new bed! OK, so after dinner she went outside to take out the recyclables, and when she got back to the front door it was locked!!! Her cell phone was in the house and it was totally locked up! She went across he street and met our new neighbor Joy. She let the mamma use her phone to call the landlord, but he didn't answer. So while they were talking, she reached into the pocket of her sweatshirt and found her keys!! She felt SO blonde, but at least she didn't have to sit out on the front step without any shoes or socks until the dad got home!!
Well - that was too much excitement and she wishes she could go take a nap, but its time for her to get ready for work! :-( Poor momma! At least its Friday so she doesn't have to go in tomorrow, too!
So, that's it for today! Here's the recap: We have a contractor, dog park, Pet Food Express ROCKS!! and the momma is blonde!!
Sleep well and thanks once again for the love and support! Hugs!!

Hugs!!

Boring day today. Laid around most of the morning 'cuz its too hot to do much. Did get some good sniffing time in our new backyard and we sniffed the 3 small dogs in the adjacent yard. I think one of them is named Yoda. Looks like one is a pug, one is Jack Russell mix and the other is yappy! We all had a good bark at them before the momma made us come back inside.
Momma had a nail appointment today. Good thing 'cuz while she was scatching Teddi's back this morning, the one that was cracked picking up the lawn chairs yesterday ripped off! I was proud of her 'cuz she didn't cry even though it started bleeding!
She then went and spent half a nickzillion dollars at the dollar store getting stuff like window, toilet and floor cleaners, Brillo pads, garlic powder, cinnamon and basil. More stuff that we're going to need for the new house if'n we're ever going to eat a real meal again! Scrambled eggs don't count, right!?!? The momma did make them this morning with ham and cheese. The first thing she's cooked on electric stove in nearly 100 years!!
She did bring us to Drigon tonight! There were just shy of 100 dogs there and most of them seemed to be black labs!! Us bassets are starting to get out numbered! Little Zoey's mom brought oatmeal-raisin cookies for the 2-leggers (our momma shared hers with us!). She was the most popular person at the dog park for a while!! Mom couldn't beleive that she picked the hottest day of the year to start baking!! And that reminded the mom that she bought brownie mix but now she doesn't have a brownie pan! I think she'll be doing that a lot in the next coming weeks!
She has to go back to work tonight. She says in some ways it seems like the past week and a half has flown by and then in another way it feels like she hasn't been there in a month! I bet she has a boat load of e-mails when she gets there and won't be able to leave her office!
She did put in a call to the Restoration people that are packing up our house - she's looking for the little box that will move our house phone number to the new house. So far no luck, but hopefully soon. She just remembered that the dad had been approved to have more shots in his knee and they were supposed to call and schedule the appointment. Well - they can't call or leave a message since there isn't any power to our house, and especially if the phone stuff is in a box somewhere!
Well - that's it for tonight! Like I said, today was kinda boring, but it was SO nice! Sleep well friends! And thanks again for the continued love and support!! Hugs!

Today the momma woke me up at 6am to see if I wanted to go outside with her, Sasha and Teddi. I thought about it for a second, but decided to stay in bed a little while longer!
When they went out again at 9am, I went with that time an we walked around the block for the last time! Today is moving day!! We get to go to our new temporary house! The three of us have lots to sniff here! The yard is amazing!! We have our own mini dog park here!! We were here about an hour and the momma took off. Said we needed cleaning and food stuffs, but she came back and didn't have anything for us girls at all!! The nerve! She said she spent nearly a nickzillion dollars and just got the basics - detergent, toothpaste, dish soap, ketchup, ice, peanut butter & jelly, peanuts, tea bags, but NO cookies! And NO sugar! How is the dad supposed to have sweet tea if there isn't any sugar?!?! Boy the momma can be blonde sometimes! She did get aluminum foil and she's already covered the sliding glass door in their bedroom so when she goes back to work tomorrow night the room will be nice an dark so she can sleep good!
While she was gone, the guys from DirecTV showed up to make the dad happy! We have a TV in the living room and in the bedroom, but BOY are these TV's small compared to te ones at the old house! But they aren't there any more anyways!! Some guys from a company called Restronics came and borrowed all of the dad's TV's, stereo stuffs and speakers. They have to test them to see if the smoke from the fire damaged them too bad, or if the'll be OK. Dad is hoping the stereo is OK 'cuz it's one of a kind. Momma says he pieced it together here and there until its the dad's pride and joy! The TV in the living room isn't even 6 months old yet so we hope it is OK, too! Both of the TV's here could fit inside the TV from the old house!!
The dad went back to work tonight! The mom had to buy him a new lunch box 'cuz his was in the fire! The new one doesn't have a penguin on it like the last one did, but at least he has one again!
The momma went back to Wally-World tonight and bought 2 new dog beds for the living room. I don't know why she bothered - Sasha got up on the couch and made herself right at home and Teddi seems to like lying on the floor where its nice and cool! I guess its up to me to make myself at home! The one I tried out was VERY comfy!!
Grandma Dossey came by after dad left for work. She LOVES our new temporary house! She told the momma that we should try and buy it! I think she's crazy 'cuz we're not even living in the top half of the house - why would we want to buy it?!?!? Wait until she see'show the guys at Paul David fix up our house!! She'll like it again!! And if not, that's OK - she doesn't have to live with us!! As long as the momma and the dad like it, and we're all together, that's all that matters!!
The momma took us back to our old house tonight to pick up the mail! Good thing she did - the UPS guy dropped a half a billion boxes of dog treats for the waddle goody bags in front of our garage! Like someone wouldn't steal that right if they'd break into our house?!!? After we loaded them into the BUV we went to the dog park for our regular play date! We had a LOT of fun and Layla's daddy Dave gave us all snacks before he left! We have such nice friends!! :-)
Well - The one thing that the momma likes about this place is that there is 3 bathrooms, so no more sharing like we did at the hotel! She's thinking of going back to Wally World to buy sugar and bubble bath tonight! She also needs Alhambra 'cuz she is SO thirsty! Apparentlymoving makes you thirsty 'cuz we've had her fill our water bowl at least 3 times today, too!!
Well - that's all for today! It feels good to be in a home again! Thanks to everyone who's offered to help us move, but we weren't able to take much from our old house, so its not needed now! However, we are planning a big get together the weekend after next to celebrate how lucky we are to have all of you in our lives! Keep an eye out for the e-vite! The momma said that your dogs can come, too! It will be a party for all of us!!
Good night everyone! Thanks once again for the love and support!! Hugs!!

Got up this morning and took a walk around the neighborhood. Mom called Lish while we were out and told her that Manny wants a heads up before they deliver the furniture and then we came back, mom snuck us each a sausage from the breakfast down stairs and we all climbed back into bed.
Around 8:20 or so, Maria from Restoration Management called to see if the momma or the dad had been in the house since last Friday. They told her no, so she said that it looks like someone broke in, and that we needed to meet her at the house to call the police!
Boy was the dad mad!! If he would have found them he'd have hurt them big time!! Good thing they were long gone!! They made a mess of the house - throwing things around and emptying boxes that were already packed by the momma and dad. They got in through the slidin glass door in the backyard and went through all the momma and dad's things, but they didn't take a whole lot - just couple of dad's guitars, a Raider "class" ring, a Raider watch, a couple of basset watches and some of mom's pearls that she forgot about 'cuz that jewelry box was in the dad's Raider Room!!
They pushed out one of the screens of the screen room to get out so that Steve wouldn't see them. Everyone from the neighborhood said that its probably 2 or 3 people that have been hanging around since the fire last week. GRRRRRR!!!
The police couldn't do anything except write a report for the insurance. The momma's not sure who's responsible -the insurance company or the restoration company? Either way - they probably got less then $1000 worth of stuff, but as the momma said "it's enough to piss off the Pope!" She was holding it together until this happened! She is so mad she can spit!! I think she took this harder than the dad! He was upset when he first learned of the break-in, but he calmed down when he realized they didn't take much. That part didn't bother the momma - she felt violate BIG TIME!! She locked the screen room window again and put a board inside the slider so they couldn't open it again, then the dad moved the Harley to Grandma's just to be on the safe side!
CRS called on the way back to the hotel and said that they were goin to deliver the appliances in an hour, so the momma called Manny and told him. He said that we could come get the keys then (1:30pm).
A weird thing happened on the way back to the hotel - the momma had the windows down like she normally does when we're driving around town (not on the freeways) and a big truck was next to us and made a loud noise and scared the Sasha half to death! She tried to climb under the momma's legs, but she was driving, so she pushed her back, rolled up the windows and turned up the radio to calm her down.
The dad had us take a bunch of stuff from the hotel and packed it up so we don't have so much to grab tomorrow and headed back out. Sasha was still a bit shakey, so the momma talked to her and told her she was OK, but she still shook any ways.
The house is really nice!! The furniture they gave us is super nice and we now have brand new washer, drier and refridgerator and 2 new flat screen TV's - one for the livin room and one for the bedroom! Oh, and the most important thing - a HUGE backyard for us girls!! It's like having a mini dog park all to ourselves!! :-) It's the real reason the moma and dad picked this place!!
We're not going to stay there tonight because 1) the momma needs to buy laundry detergent and softener so she can wash the rented sheets and blankets and 2) DirecTV can't turn on the TV's until tomorrow, so we're going back to the hotel tonight!
Sasha is still shakey in the car - we don't know what's going on! She nearly climbed over the momma when she stopped at Burger King, so she bought us a burger for our dinner tonight and the nice man at the drive up gave Sasha a french fry, but she's still all shakey and acting goofy! We all hope she's better tomorrow! She has the momma worried terribly!
The momma had a rough day, so no dog parks for us tonight! We're moving in to the rental in the morning and then dad is going back to work. The momma is going to take another night off so that we aren't left alone in the house at all on our first day, even if it is for a couple of hours!! She is SO lucky that her work is understanding and that she has vacation time coming!! :-)
While the dad is still home, she wants to go get all the stuff stuff that we'll need... soaps, TP, milk, ice, a new lunchbox for dad, soda and snacks for his lunch, bread - the basics! She'll think about what to buy for dinners and lunches later!!
Well - that's all for tonight! Wish us luck with Sasha tomorrow!! Thanks again for all the love and support!! Hugs!!

Today the momma went to some place called Carrow's for breakfast and brought it back to the room. Then we all laid around and watched NASCAR after a nickzillion minutes of rain delay, but it was worth it 'cuz the momma and dad's favorite driver, Dale Jr. won the race!! They were SO happy!
After the race, the momma packed us up into the BUV and went to her work. She called Pops and her daddy to wish them both Happy Father's Day while she drove (don't worry - she uses a hand-free thingy all the time!).
When we got to her work, she let us sniff around and pee outside before going and clocking in. Then she closed the hallway doors so we could roam around if we wanted to without going too far! We did for a few seconds, but then we just laid around by her desk while she did something called time sheets! She said that if she didn't, some people might not have gotten paid right and wouldn't have enough cookie money for thier kids! We couldn't let that happen, so we were VERY good while she worked!
We had an appointment last Friday to sign the lease, but Manny the landlord had to reschedule for tonight, so after we got back to the hotel, we grabbed the dad and went to meet Manny. He had momma do a walk through on the house to make sure everything was OK before we move in.
The momma then had dad take her to Dickey's BBQ to get an order of ribs to go 'cuz she didn't want taco's. We went looking for the Taquaria near the hotel, but could only find a Taco Bell, so that's what the dad had for dinner. We liked the momma's better 'cuz she gave us each a rib bone when she was done!
Supposed to call Lish in the morning to make sure the delivery guys call Manny so he can be there to let them in. He said we don't need to be there, so we'll meet him in the afternoon after he gets the check from CRS - then he'll give us the keys!
So until then, have great night and thanks again for all the love and support!! Hugs!!

Today is going to be a warm one!! Because of that some of our friends don't want to come out to play, but the momma and the dad took us to Point Isabel to walk by the bay and we had SO much fun!!
I found a gopher right away! I didn't notice that he came up a different hole and was looking at me look into his hole! The momma finally had to pull me off and make me leave! :-(
We spent a lot of time at the picnic table watching the bay and we saw a bunch of diamonds on the water. We didn't know what it was, but pretty soon we started seeing these little crabs out on the rocks right below where we were standing, so it must have been them...
When we left, the momma had us drop her off at Costco and she ran in and got 3 hot dogs and 2 Pepsi's and we went over by the Albany Waterfront to eat, except there wasn't any parking places, so we just parked by the fence to Golden Gate Fields while momma and dad ate. They saved our hot dog for our dinner!
Traffic was SUPER slow and it took forever to get back to our old house to check the mail! Good thing we went 'cuz there was a bunch!! Dad talked to neighbor Steve for a while, and then we went back to the hotel!
After a nap, the momma took us to the Castro Valley Dog Park. When we got there, there was only 1 little dog named Wilson there, and Sasha was afraid to play with him (he was only 8 months old so neither Teddi or me wanted to play with him either!)! Soon other little dogs showed up and then finally some big dogs, so the momma took us over to the big dog side where Sasha found 2 new friends and ran and ran and ran! Boy does that girl have a ton of energy!!
Tomorrow, the momma said we're going to go to her work. Teddi's been there before, but not me or Sasha, so we're looking forward to it! I'll write you about it tomorrow!
Thanks fo all the continued love and support!! Hugs!

Got up and me Maria and her team at the house. Mom found some more costume jewelry she forgot about - an old pocket watch, a couple of Italian charm bracelets. She showed Maria what stuff to start with that we need back by next week - stuff for the goody bags for the 4th of July waddle mostly! Each time she goes she forgets to see if she can grab the box that will allow us to take our home phone to our hotel or rental house so we can keep the same phone number!
When we left, she took us over to Leena's house to print out another paper that the momma has to sign so they can rent the house for us. Leena was nice enough to fax it for the momma, but the momma called Catherine and not Lish, so she sent it to Allstate, not CRS! Good thing Lish called and asked the momma if she sent it while we were at the Fremont Dog Park! The momma then got a call from Manny, the landlord and agreed to meet in the afternoon to sign the lease agreement. He can't give us the keys until he gets the check from CRS, so that means we have to stay in the hotel until at least Monda. That's OK 'cuz we got a call from CRS saying that they couldn't deliver the furniture to the rental until Monday between 9am and noon anyways!
When we were waiting for dad's appointment, mom got a text from Higg's mom Laurie asking if she could help with H when they got to the park tonight 'cuz she sprained her ankle and was on crutches. When the momma found out she sprained it slipping on the super slippery grass outside the dog park, she e-mailed and told them what happened and asked them to stop making the grass into a swamp so no one else would get hurt! Laurie was happy when they said they would let the groundskeeper know!
At 4pm we took the dad over to see Auntie Diane. She is the momma and dad's hair cut person and the dad REALLY needed to see her 'cuz he hasn't been able to get a hair cut since he returned to work in February!! Auntie Diane and the momma were calling him Fluffy and fo good reason!
While he was getting thinned out, the momma took us girls for a LONG walk around the big block where Auntie Diane works! It was SO hot out, we kept stopping whenever there was shade and nice grass, but we made it back just as Auntie Dee was finishing up dad's haircut! One of Autie Dee's other customers came out to say hi to us and to meet ME! She was very happy to hear that we all got out safely and told us about her rescue doggies!
When we left there, we all went to Drigon for our regular play date! It was nice in the shade and Theresa was there with Cassie and Ron showed up with Mika and Josh with Terrance. Mom went out when Laurie drove up and helped walk H into the park and then found Laurie a seat on the bench where everyone was sitting! Then Auntie Susan and Kewpie showed up in the small dog park with Sue and Mocha. Momma told Teddi and me that she might have pupcakes for us, so we went to visit while Sasha wrestled with Frisky, Higgs & Layla! Well guess what - she did!! She made 2 kinds: banana and carob!! She asked which one we wanted first, and we said banana-carob! We just finished our first bite and we seen the dad come walking towards us telling Sasha where we were, so the momma whistled her special Sasha whistle and she came flying into the little dog park for her share of pupcakes! Pretty soon, Frisky came looking for her and so he came in and got a couple of bites, too! Another fun day at the park!
Before we left, the momma called up Auntie Terry to see what she was doing and if she wanted to meet us at Grandma's house. She said she would, so we met there and then the momma went to Country Way for steak samidges and we watched the longest show ever about some guy walking on a wire above some water! The momma missed it - she fell asleep on Grandma's floor! When it was over, we went home and went to bed!
No meetings tomorrow, so we hope to go have some fun! More then...
Thanks again for al the love and support!! Hugs!

Thursdaay June 14, 2012
We had another busy day today! Met with Rich from Allstate, CJ from Mark Scott Construction and Van, Troy and Doug from Paul David Restoration and Remodeling. CJ, Van and Doug went thru the entire house and measured every last nook and cranny and made drawings of our house! It is their job to write the bids for the work it will take to get our house back to pre-fire conditions (and then some!)! It took them hours! They know it will take x number of part number yz to put the stove back in its place, how many yards of carpet, how many fee of cabinets and counter top and how many gallons of paint, etc... They also went around the outside of the house to see what could be power washed or had to be repainted! They think it will be cheaper to get a new front door and security screen and we will have to see how well the windows in the dining room, living room and entry way clean up before they decide if they have to be replaced or not. They agreed to have the bids back to Rich by Wednesday of next week. That's when the momma will have to decide which contractor to go with. Rich said that they should be pretty close in price, so just go with who she would like to work with.
We got a phone call from Lish that the rental property and CRS had agreed to terms for our short-term lease. Momma has to fill out a form and e-mail it back to give CRS permission to make the payments for us! Momma said "twist my arm..."
Also found out that our kitchen has asbestos, so they have to do a special clean up for that! It spread with the smoke into the living room and hallway, so when they come tomorrow they'll have to put up special containment stuff.
We went to Drigon at 5pm for our play date and had a good time. I was extra snarky tonight and Sasha got to play with all her friends and then some! Teddi mostly got belly rubs, so we all had fun!
Momma has been getting lots of e-mails asking if we are going to have a fundraiser and asking what we need. That got the momma to thinking - the hounds of GGBR need more help then we do right now, so she made me a Firstgiving page telling everyone how I was rescued twice - First when GGBR placed me with the momma and dad on June 8, 2006 and then again this past Sunday, June 10, 2012 when Fireman Ed saved me from the house fire and brought me out to my momma! We hope all of our friends chip in $5 or $10 of their cookie money to help the homeless hounds, like I used to be!! If you want to check out my page go to:
http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/gwen-dossey-1/waddle-2012
Tell all your friends, too! The more the merrier, my momma alway says!!
We are going by the house again tomorrow 'cuz they're supposed to start packing up our things. But tonight - more cuddling with the momma (Sasha and I sleep with momma and Teddi sleeps with dad)! Have a great night and thanks again for all the love and support from everyone!

Today, the momma got a call from Maria at Restoration Management saying that the dry cleaners would be at the house between 8:30 and 9am and could she meet them at the house? So, she piled us girls into the BUV and we went back to the house once again! When she got there, Dan was waiting to go inside. He had the combination to the lock box, but dad had only given them the key to the front door, but the momma had locked the security door, too, when she left yesterday so he couldn't get in!! The momma found some more things that she needed to take out, like the spare keys to dad's car and dad's guns! We watched them take stuff out of the house in droves!! Bag after bag after bag and they aren't even close to being done!! The momma asked Dan "Can you believe only 2 people live here?" to which he replied "its impressive!" :-)
When we left them they were still bringing stuff out - Dan joked and said that was bag #82, but I'm not sure - he might have been telling the truth!
We then went over to Grandma's to bring the guns 'cuz the momma didn't want to leave them in the hotel or in the BUV and then we went to Centerville Round Table for pizza!! They are the BEST!!
After eating and a quick nap, they took us to look at a house to rent in Irvington District (Fremont). They didn't let us out of the car, but they said it had a very nice yard and we would take it if the insurance will pay for it, so the momma made a phone call and we dropped the dad off at Grandma's so we coud go to our play date in Union City! We stopped by the Taquaria by our old house on the way to pick up dad so he could have taco's before going back to the room. It was nice day, but it is wearing us girls out to no end!! We're used to sleeping 20 hours a day, and we can't with the momma taking us every where she goes! Don't get me wrong - we prefer that then staying someplace strange!
Well - off to bed! More tomorrow! We have meetings with Rich and 2 contractors tomorrow morning!
Until then - thanks to everyone who's e-mailed and called! The momma has the bestest friends ever!

Today we had to move. The La Quinta is booked for tomorrow - some sort of convention in town??!? The momma and dad have a meeting at the house at 9am, so they drive us over to the Starbucks by our house so the momma can use their wi-fi (she can't find her wi-fi stick since the fire!). While they were inside, someone walked up and asked if they were the family with the bassets that had the fire? When the dad told her yes, she told us that she and her husband were so sorry to hear about the fire, but so glad that we all made it out OK! Word is spreading quickly!
Then the moma's friend Leena called to see what she could do to help (she's the momma to Gino who was a puppy when Teddi was and she says that she's Teddi's mother-in-law!). She helped the momma look up dog-friendly hotels on the internet. They found our next room at the Quality Inn in Castro Valley. They are holding a room for us from today until at least Friday!
We are meeting Catherine from Allstate and Maria from Restoration Management at 9am. Once again, the momma and dad wouldn't let us in the house, but made us wait in the backyard! The house STINKS SO BAD!! It gives the momma and dad a headache! Just being in there and seeing all of the stuff is hard! They told Catherine and Maria that they were planning on going thru their stuff 4th of July week when they both had vacation and seeing what they wanted to keep and what they were going to get rid of! Maria said that now they will have help 'cuz EVERYTHING has to come out of the house and be cleaned!
Maria's company will take everything out, inventory it, clean it and let us know if it is salvageable or not. She will give a list of things we need to throw out to Catherine so she can add it to the claim. They talk about a dry cleaning company coming to take thier clothes and cleaning them, too! Catherine gave the momma a check so that she could buy stuff that they need - shampoo, deodorant, hair brushes, tooth brushes or whatever and we all went to check into our new room!
It is REALLY nice! The beds are just a little bit softer (the momma ordered 2-queen sized beds so we can sleep with them!) and the pillows are so much softer, too! The TV has a lot more channels for the dad to choose from so he likes that a lot!
Then the momma gathered Sasha up ('cuz she's whiner) and drove back to the house to meet Rich from Allstate. He is our 3rd adjustor and is in charge of the structure! Catherine is in charge of our personal property and John is in charge of finding us a place to stay. Well, Lish called while the momma was talking to Rich. She works for a company called CRS and they've been hired by John to find us a rental house. Why do we need a place to rent? Because everyone that looks at our house says we will be moved out for 4-6 months!! YIKES! That's just CRAZY, right?!?! Well, she says she found one only 4 miles away from us and gave the momma the phone number of the guy to arrange a meeting. So, after talking with Rich, he used his GPS to find the new place so she knew where to go after collecting dad, Teddi and I and she made an appointment for 3pm to meet him.
Well - we didn't get out of the BUV, but we could tell that neither the momma or the dad were too happy about it. The yard was small and it just didn't feel safe, so they called Lish and told her to keep looking - maybe in the other direction towards Union City or Fremont and we went back to the hotel. When we got back up to the room, we all passed out so the momma texted our friends and told them we were all too tired to drive back to Union City for a play date and we'll see them on Wednesday! Well - that lasted for about 1-3/4 and when we woke up, Sasha and I starte wrestling in the hotel room so the momma took us to the Castro Valley Dog Park! When we were done, we went to Pet Food Express and she bought us new food bowls (our were lost in the fire), some more treats and some poo bags. She then tried to get us a pizza for dinner, but Pyzanno's is closed for remodeling, so she went to Safeway and got stuff for ice cream and we went back to the room!
Aunt Terry called up the momma about 9pm 'cuz we hadn't called Grandma all day and she was worried. We told her that we just had a busy day going from meeting to meeting and we'd call her tomorrow! Well - it's been a LONG day and we all need a nap, so sleep well and I'll type more tomorrow...

Today, started off with a phone call from Grandpa Daly in Illinois! The momma went on-line with the hotel's wi-fi last night and told the world what happened to us! He got up and checked e-mail before going to Great-Grandma' 98th birthday and read the momma's post and wanted to tell us that he's glad we're all OK.
Since the momma was up, we all got up and so the momma took us girls out for a walk around the hotel property. She called her work and talked to her daytime boss and then she called HR and told them all what happened last night! They are all SO nice! We tried to stay out of the room for a while since the dad kept groaning in his sleep and waking up every hour or two last night!
Mom got a call from Restoration Management. They are the ones the momma hired to take all of the stuff out of our hous and clean it. They want to meet at the house at 11am so they can discuss what needs to happen, so we had to go back up stairs and wake the dad up so he could shower.
The momma went down and got us some eggs and stuff from the continental breakfast and while we were watching the Channel 2 news, there I was with fireman Ed! They reported on our house catching fire and how they searched our house looking for me! They said that I was 13 and that I was blind, but they had that great picture of me and Fireman Ed!
We all went back to our house at 11am. They wouldn't let us girls in the house at all! The put us in the back yard and blocked the sliding door so we couldn't get in the house! We are NOT used to being treated that way! We belong IN the house, not in the yard so we did a lot of barking and whining to let them know we do not approve of being treated this way!!
The good news was that we didn't stay there long! We went over to Grandma Dossey's house so the momma could talk to the insurance people and the dad could try to sleep! The momma remembered we didn't have any food, so we all got back in the BUV (Basset Utility Vehicle) and ran over to the groomers where we buy our food (Taste of the Wild)! Then back to Grandma's. A few phone calls and she remembered my medicine was in the fire, so off to the Animal Eye Clinic for a refill and back to Grandma's. Now it's going on 4:30pm, so the momma took us to our standing play date at Drigon 'cuz every night at 5pm we meet Sasha's friends Layla (who owns Dave) and Frisky (who owns Priyanka) and on Tuesday's, Thursday's and Friday's Higgs shows up (he owns Laurie). The mom had texted them all to let them know about the fire, so everyone was even more nice then normal and Dave gave us extra treats! Dennise (Mia's mom) told our mom that she saw an article on www.patch.com and wondered if that was us. Yes - that was me they talked about and yes, that was my picture with my fireman!!
Back to Grandma's for dinner and to the hotel to bed! I guess it was an OK day. At least we're all together! More later!

Hi! My name is Madden and this is my new blog. In a little bit, you'll find out why I started writing, but lets just start with how today started:
Today started out like a normal 2nd Sunday of the month... we got up and dragged the momma to Drigon Dog Park for our monthly meetup there! It was a warm day, so only a few of our friends showed up and it was really too hot to play much - even for Sasha (the bundle of energy that is my 14 month old basset sister!). We got to see Sandy and Toby, Rob, Sally and Stella & Sue and Mocha.
On the way home, the momma stopped by and picked up food from The Country Way! We like when they go there, 'cuz when the momma gets a hot turkey samidge we get the extra gravy on our dinners!! Dad just got a chef salad, so there wasn't anything there for us to share.
After dinner, the momma and the daddy went to sleep 'cuz the momma works nights and the dad wasn't feeling well from going out to see a friends band play the night before (and then he stayed up late playing records and drinking Bushmils!).
Anyways - when they were sleeping, a fire started in the kitchen!!
Somehow the daddy smelled something burning and woke up! He thought the window air conditioner in their bedroom was burning up from being on all day, so he got up and turned it off. When he went down the hall to get something to drink, he notice the lights in the living room were off (they are always on in our house) and then he saw the smoke and he yelled to the momma!
They got to the front door just as the neighbor Steve from across the street was pounding and they went running out of the house telling Steve to call 9-1-1 'cuz the kitchen was on fire. The daddy then ran to the back fence and Teddi was there waiting for him (she's the smartest basset EVER!)! He got the gate open and the momma grabbed her and handed her to Steve to take to his house. Then Sasha came running out of the yard super scared and not knowing which way to go! The momma grabbed her and gave her to Steve, too! She then started yelling for me, but I was no where to be found!! The momma was SO scared! She kept yelling and yelling, but no me! She then grabbed the front hose and tried to put the fire out, but the smoke was too thick, so she left the house again and the firemen showed up! Every fireman she saw she told him to go save her dog!!
The dad went to the back of the house and was spraying water through the doggy door onto the fire to keep it from spreading past the kitchen! When the kitchen window blew out, he aimed the hose thru the window until the firemen got inside and put the fire out! Then he joined the momma out front where other neighbors were telling her that I would be OK "'cuz she is low to the ground!"!
After 15 minutes, one of the firemen asked what kind of dog we had "a poodle?" - "Why," the daddy yelled "what did you find?!?!" He said, no - they just wanted to know what to look for, and he said that I was a one-eyed basset hound.
Another 5 minutes went by and a fireman carried me out. When the momma saw me, she couldn't tell if I was breathing or not, so she called my name and I wagged my tail!! The momma grabbed me and hugged me and cried and cried!! We then went over to Steve's house to wait.
The head fire guy called dad over and asked when they had cooked last 'cuz one of the burners was on full blast. That's when we knew that Sasha must have smelled something on he stove so she got on her tip-toes and looked and when she came down, her big front paw must have turned on the burner to the momma's gas stove! The burner she turned on had a skillet with bacon grease in it, and it started the fire!
Then he asked if the fireman that saved me could have his picture taken with me. Of course he said yes, so here is a picture of me and Firman Ed Camera:
Well - we are now staying at a place called La Quinta Inn in Hayward 'cuz they let us girls stay with the momma and dad! We're glad 'cuz we're not sure what's going on and as long as we're all together, that's all that matters!!
This blog is to keep track of what we're going to go through to get back home! The smoke was SO bad we can't live there any more!! Not until they clean it all up and get it smelling good again! So, check back every once in a while to see what's new. The momma is thinking of it as an adventure, but its still early!
Talk to you soon!
~Madden and the Smokin' Hot Hounds~
